TAOS Musical Theatre - Our Heritage

Formed in 1900, TAOS Musical Theatre has celebrated over 100 years of consistent on stage presence in Taunton, the County Town of Somerset, and as such is one of the oldest theatrical societies in existence. Performing for many decades as Taunton Amateur Operatic Society, with the acronym 'TAOS', in 2019 we underwent a name change to TAOS Musical Theatre Taunton to more closely align ourselves with our more recent, and future show repertoire.

Across our 121 years on stage, we have performed at Taunton's key venues, from the former the Lyceum Theatre on Staplegrove Road and the Gaumont and Odeon theatres on Corporation Street, to in more recent times, the Brewhouse Theatre and Arts Centre, the Tacchi-Morris Arts Centre and the SPACE Somerset.
